CHARLOTTESVILLE, Virginia — The stations of the Charlottesville Radio Group joined together with Blue Star Families of Central Virginia to ask our listeners to support the troops for Valentine’s Day by making Valentine cards to send to them. Our listeners responded with around 2,000 cards offering messages of thanks for service to our country.
Blue Star Families of Central Virginia periodically sends care packages to men and women from Central Virginia who are currently serving in the military and posted overseas. The Valentines created by our stations’ listeners were included in the organization’s February care packages.
Several teachers had their students make valentines as a class project, a few church groups got together, and one little girl invited her friends over to her house to make Valentines. One of our listeners went a step further and put together 50 snack boxes for the troops!
Z95.1 has been collecting Valentines for the Troops for over a decade, but this is the first year that the other Charlottesville stations joined in. Our community really came together to let our troops know how much we appreciate them!
