Charleston, SC (3/27/2023) – Two days, three radio stations and one hundred seventy thousand dollars raised.
The 3rd Annual “Cares for Kids” Radiothon on 92.5 Kickin’ Country, Mix 95.9 and Star 99.7 set a new record, raising $170,901 for the MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital. Over the past three years, the Charleston Radio Group has raised well over $400,000 for South Carolina’s top rated and national ranked Children’s Hospital.
Thursday, March 24th and Friday, March 25th, the stations broadcast live from the lobby of the MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital. The 26-hour Radiothon included live interviews with patients and families, a 12-person phone bank, and hundreds of listener phone calls and texts. It was the first time the radiothon was able to be held in the hospital since the onset of Covid.
According to Paul O’Malley, Market President for the Charleston Radio Group and a member of the MUSC Childrens Hospital Board of Directors, “CRG and our parent company Saga Communications is proud to partner with MUSC and will continue to focus on improving lives in our local communities. The MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital is a place where miracles happen, and the money raised helps the miracles continue.”
The Charleston Radio Group supports the MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital year-round, including making the hospital the beneficiary of the 92.5 Kickin’ Country “Nashville Hot” series, hosting the annual “Reindeer Run” and assisting with other events and fundraising activities.
