Charlottesville Media Group’s Broadcasters for Blood Drive Collects 220 Units of Life-Saving Blood, Supporting Central Virginia Hospitals

Charlottesville, VA — The annual Broadcasters for Blood drive, held on Monday, July 7, 2025, was once again a remarkable success. Organized in partnership with the American Red Cross and Charlottesville Media Group, this year’s event collected 220 units of life-saving blood, making a critical impact on hospital patients across Central Virginia. The drive, hosted at the DoubleTree Hotel in Charlottesville, brought out hundreds of donors—many first timers—alongside returning participants. Throughout the day, local radio personalities from NewsRadio WINA, 3WV, Z95.1, 106.1 The Corner, and C-Ville Country encouraged turnout and shared the importance of donating blood during the summer months, when shortages are especially common.

“We are so grateful to everyone who showed up to donate and so proud to be part of a community that answers the call to help others,” said Susan Terwilleger, event co-coordinator with Charlottesville Media Group. “Every pint collected represents hope for someone in need, and it’s truly inspiring to see the difference we can make together.”

Now a summer tradition for twenty years, Broadcasters for Blood continues to unite media, donors, American Red Cross staff, and volunteers in a powerful effort to save lives. The 220 units collected have the potential to help more than 650 patients in need.

“We’re constantly reminded of how our audience will rally behind a good cause,” said Garrett Klingel, President and General Manager of Charlottesville Media Group. “It’s a testament to what our community can accomplish when we come together for a life-saving mission.”
