95.7 WZID set out to help an often-underserved part of the community, the elderly, with our Hope for the Holidays campaign. Many of New Hampshire’s senior neighbors spend the holidays alone, so we set out to make the season brighter, because nobody should be forgotten, especially at this time of year.
Our initiative started with the help of Trans-Siberian Orchestra! In addition to the band donating a portion of ticket sales from their November 28th show at the SNHU Arena, they provided a prize pack for our on-line auction, which included a signed TSO jacket and a pair of tickets to their concert. It was a chance to listeners to grab some great prizes, plus give back to the community at the same time.
95.7 WZID raised money through the auction, as well as a donation page on the WZID website, and listeners and sponsors were invited to join Neal, Marga and Emily from New Hampshire in the Morning for a live broadcast at T-Bones Restaurant as a celebratory finale party. $29,415.00 was raised in partnership with FEEDNH, whose mission is to support families, the elderly, education, and the disadvantaged with dignity and care.
Lucy Lange, President/General Manager of Manchester Media Group stated “It is the essence of local radio when we can connect this way. When our on-air team and the local community pull together to support an underserved group, the elderly during the holidays, you generate wonderful results.”
