OCALA, FL — For the 27th year, North Central Florida Media’s 93.7 K-Country and 92.5/95.5 Wind-FM hosted the Annual Stop Children’s Cancer Bearathon on Wednesday, Feb. 11 from 6am-7pm. The radiothon raised $102,745 to help cure pediatric cancer. The stations have helped donate over $1.9 million for the cause in the past two decades.
All money raised during the annual radiothon went to local clinical trials, basic research, research scholars and equipment for the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Florida College of Medicine and UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital for pediatric cancer.
Listeners who called in or logged onto the station websites to donate money received a bear or chemo duck. The bears are provided to pediatric cancer patients at UF Health Shands upon diagnosis while the chemo ducks serve as an educational aid for patients prior to beginning treatment.
