CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The third annual Q-Up the Classroom radiothon on Q108 raised $48,480 to help the Clarksville-Montgomery County Education Foundation buy back-to-school supplies for the Teacher Warehouse, thanks in part to a surprise matching donation from social media influencer Nina Pool.
During the radiothon, local teachers answered the phones to collect donations, and nationally syndicated radio show hosts Erik Zachary and Jordan Foster with XYZ with Erik Zachary came to town to finish out the fundraising in the Clarksville studio. Q108 was joined by local high school bands, cheerleaders, local and state elected officials and Austin Peay State University coaches.
The final guest was social media influencer Nina Pool, @ninaghoulina, who spoke of her own experiences in school growing up. Just when it looked like the total raised was going to be $24,240, Pool announced she was doubling that with a matching donation, making it $48,480 – the most raised yet by Q-Up the Classroom – drawing both applause and tears from those in the studio.
What is Teacher Warehouse?
The Teacher Warehouse, provided by the Clarksville-Montgomery County Education Foundation, is a free supply store available to CMCSS teachers. Teachers have access to donated supplies for the benefit of student achievement. In the past 15 years, the store has saved local teachers an estimated $800,000 in out-of-pocket expenses.
By donating financially to the CMC Teacher Warehouse, the staff can purchase exactly what teachers need the most, including often-overlooked items like toiletries and personal care items. The effort doesn’t end here! You can still make a donation online.
