Radiothon raises over 25K for Childrens Hospital

HARRISONBURG VA: (ROCKTOWN NOW) – The first ever “Valley Cares for Kids Radiothon” raised just over 25-thousand dollars as the 12-hour event ended. According to Erin Chandler with UVA Health Children’s Hospital, the fundraiser surpassed the 25K mark in the final hour, raising $25,613 dollars.

100 percent of the proceeds will go to support programs not billed at the hospital, such as support for parents with food and housing during their child’s stay at the hospital and travel expenses for treatments. The money also helps fund the purchase of much needed equipment.

Chandler said 138 gifts (text, phone, website) were received and averaged $100.92. Chandler added that these numbers are preliminary and said they track donations via text and web overnight and will have a final amount soon.

This is the first Radiothon held by the Harrisonburg Media Group and promoted over its 8 stations.

Support was also given by many local businesses including Dairy Queen and Acupuncture Medical Center.

Qfm96 Red, White, and Q Fund Awards $26,000 In Grants to Local Veteran, Active Military, and First Responder Charities

Columbus, OH – For the sixth straight year Qfm96 capped off its annual Red, White, & Q Radiothon by providing $26,000 in grants to seven deserving charities. Throughout the year, listeners and sponsors are asked to consider donations to the fund in support of local veterans, active military, first responders and their families.

Each November the station holds an on-air radiothon where charities are awarded grants and given a platform to bring awareness to their organizations and the services they provide. This year’s recipients ranged from volunteer Fire & Police Departments in need of equipment, to charities that provide scholarships to ROTC students, and provide warm clothing along with mental health services to homeless veterans in need. Every organization was able to spend time on-air with Qfm96 personalities to talk about what they do and what they will do with the grants they received.

The Red, White, & Q Fund is a fund that was created by Qfm96 to provide financial support to central Ohio 501c3 nonprofit charities and organizations that focus on helping Veterans, Active Military, First Responders, and their families.

The Red, White, & Q Fund is made possible by generous contributions from our partners at Middle West Spirits, The Waterworks, Vernon Dell Tractor, Delaware County Veterans Services, Iron Pony Motorsports, and Qfm96 listeners.
