WNOR Fields Team for Suffolk’s Out of the Darkness Walk

Sean Hood from Rumble in the Morning on FM99 WNOR organized a team to walk in the 7th Annual Out of the Darkness Walk at Bennett’s Creek Park on October 21, 2023 to benefit the Virginia Chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (ASFP). The team included Rumble in the Morning producer Rina, traffic reporter Mike Alexander, and listeners who wanted to support the cause.

The goal of the walk was to help raise awareness about suicide prevention. Organized by Suffolk residents, many from the community, including the Interim Chief of Police and ASFP Virginia Chapter Secretary Shannon Sullivan, participated.

Sean presented the Honor Beads Ceremony, part of the opening ceremonies. Individuals wore various colors of beads such green for a personal struggle or attempt or purple for the loss of a friend. After the ceremony, participants walked five laps around the park to honor their loved ones. Each lap represented one of five values: Passion, Community, Harmony, Impact and Well-Being.

To date, this walk raised $33, 948 for the Virginia Chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
