WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Nearly 100 brave participants took the icy plunge at the 2026 Purdue Polar Plunge on February 28 at Lambert Fieldhouse, raising more than $50,000 to support Special Olympics Indiana and its mission of providing year-round sports training and competition opportunities for athletes with intellectual disabilities.
The annual fundraising event brought together supporters for a day of fun and excitement. Among those taking the plunge was Purdue Pete, who joined participants in showing support for the more than 19,000 Special Olympics Indiana athletes who benefit from programs across the state.
The funds raised through the event will help ensure athletes continue to have access to sports training, competition, health initiatives, leadership programs, and inclusive opportunities that build confidence and foster community.

WASK-FM’s Bryan “Mac” McGarvey kept the energy high throughout the day as the event’s emcee, engaging participants and spectators while celebrating the fundraising achievements of teams and individuals.
