FM99 Afternoon Drive personality Nick Pearl lost a bet with FM99 Rock Girl Suvanna, but they are both winners for helping Special Olympics Virginia.

Nick, Suvanna, and Dave Taylor from sister station 106.9 The Fox created the FM99/106.9 The Fox Polar Plunge Team powered by Acoustical Sheetmetal Company. All 3 participated in the Polar Plunge at the Virginia Beach oceanfront on February 8, along with staff from Acoustical Sheetmetal Company. Their team raised $7,500 for Special Olympics Virginia, contributing to the $1.7 Million raised at the event.

Th bet, dubbed the Hair vs. Hair Challenge, was simple: whomever raised the LEAST amount for the Polar Plunge had to shave their head. WTKR, the TV sponsor of the Polar Plunge, caught wind of the challenge and invited Nick and Suvanna, along with Adora Davis from Shear Passion, to do the head shaving live on “Coast Live.”

A record-breaking 4,151 Plungers raised $1.7 million for Special Olympics Virginia. Nick and Rock Girl Suvanna are already brainstorming bets for Polar Plunge 2026!
