SEO/SEM Specialist

Job Summary

This position is responsible for managing all SEO | SEM (Search Engine Optimization | Search Engine Marketing) activities spanning:

  • Keyword strategy, content strategy, link building, on-page SEO to increase organic search rankings and drive search traffic from mostly on Google, with some support for Bing, Yahoo, and other search engines, including GBP.
  • Marketing a business/organization using paid advertisements. Must have the ability to create and oversee paid ads while continually optimizing for performance.

  • Collaborate and communicate with management and sales teams in a clear, concise and effective manner, providing technical guidance.

  • Complete projects and assignments on schedule, and within budget and effectively manage influences and impacts to schedule and budget.
  • Accurately track and post time in project management software within 24 hours of time being worked.

SUMMER NEWS INTERN, PORTLAND, ME

Portland Radio Group, in association with the Maine Association of Broadcasters, is seeking a paid summer intern for News Radio 98.5FM and AM560 WGAN, Southern Maine’s heralded legacy voice for news and talk.

Interested candidates should be available to work 15 hours per week for 12 weeks (or a similar schedule leading to a total of 180 hours) in order for compensation to be earned.  This position is designed for an individual attending college who is eligible to receive school credit and has an interest in audio broadcasting and journalism.  The internship will run approximately June through August, 2024 with specific dates to be arranged by the host station.

The intern will primarily assist the WGAN radio news department with the possibility of working with other departments including audio production, programming, and business. Hours will mainly be weekdays, with the potential for some evening and weekend work.  A valid driver’s license and clean driving record are important as you will be driving to locations in southern Maine.

  • Using audience metrics to improve story ideas and storytelling strategies.
  • Engaging with the community to develop sourcing, both in-person and on social media.
  • Representing the company to the public to provide excellent customer service.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or a related field.
  • Five or more years of journalism experience.
  • Top-notch writing and editing ability.
  • Leadership skills for effective work in a collaborative, supportive environment.
  • Experience with digital content management systems.
  • Active engagement in social media platforms.
  • The ability to learn and adapt quickly to emerging technologies.
